Load-break switch

Load break switches for industry, mechanical engineering, and control panel construction.

Renowned clients trust in our products.

What is a load break switch?

A load-break switch is used to safely and visibly isolate electrical circuits under load—for example, during maintenance and service work on machines and switchgear. Unlike a circuit breaker, it does not trip automatically in the event of a short circuit or overload, but is operated manually.

Our Load-Break Switch Series

– FuPacT, ComPacT, MasterPact

As an authorized Schneider Electric IAD distributor, BLEMO stocks the FuPacT, ComPacT NSXm, ComPacT NSX, and MasterPact MTZ series. These devices provide safe, manual disconnection of electrical circuits to protect personnel and equipment—ranging from 32 A for small machines to 6,300 A for large power systems.

FuPacT is particularly well-suited for use as a main circuit breaker and in control panel construction for applications up to 800 A.

ComPacT NSXm NA is the compact solution for compact systems and motor feeders up to 160 A—ideal for control cabinets with limited space.

ComPacT NSX NA covers the medium-power range up to 630 A and is primarily used in industrial and power distribution applications.

MasterPact MTZ is designed for main distribution boards and power distribution centers up to 6,300 A, making it the right choice for large power systems.

The duty category specifies the type of load for which the switch is designed: AC-22A is for switching mixed resistive-inductive loads, while AC-23A is for switching motor loads on and off. We would be happy to discuss design details relevant to control panel construction—such as rotary handles, door interlocks, and emergency stop functions—during a personal consultation.

Your questions about Load Break Switches

A circuit breaker automatically protects electrical systems against overloads and short circuits—it trips automatically in the event of a fault.

A load break switch, on the other hand, is used for the manual, safe disconnection and switching of electrical circuits, for example during maintenance and service work. To ensure complete protection, these two components are often used in combination.

Yes, many solutions are specifically designed for industrial control cabinets, machines, and power distribution systems. It is important to choose the right solution for your specific application.

Yes. We can help you identify suitable replacement models for older circuit breakers and load break switches—including those from other manufacturers. Our experts will verify technical compatibility and availability, and assist with commissioning.

The choice depends on the required current range and the application: FuPacT for main circuit breakers and control panel construction, ComPacT NSXm for compact systems with limited space, ComPacT NSX for industrial power distribution, and MasterPact MTZ for large main distribution panels up to 6,300 A. We would be happy to advise you on the right series for your project.

After a brief technical consultation—covering aspects such as voltage range, installation dimensions, and usage category—we’ll identify the appropriate replacement model and assist you with delivery and installation. Even for older or discontinued models, we can usually find a compatible solution.

AC-22A and AC-23A are usage categories defined by IEC 60947 that specify the type of load for which a switch is designed. AC-22A is suitable for switching mixed resistive-inductive loads, while AC-23A is specifically designed for switching motor loads with high inrush current.
