General description

The Modicon M172 is the automation solution for a wide range of machines and applications in the HVAC and pump automation segment. These include air- or water-cooled chillers, heat pumps, compressor units, ventilation systems, precision air conditioning systems, heat recovery units and air treatment systems. A large selection of communication interfaces and
-protocols such as Ethernet, Modbus, BACnet and LonWorks enable simple, efficient and secure integration into building management systems (BMS) or connection to cloud applications and remote maintenance solutions. With the free EcoStruxure™ Machine Expert – HVAC programming software, machines can now be programmed, visualized and commissioned even more easily and quickly.

System components

The M172 PLC controller is available in the “Optimized” and “Performance” versions and comprises several device types, which are arranged according to function and compatibility.
The control units are available with or without an integrated display and with or without an SSR output, depending on the basic device.
I/O expansion modules are mixed digital and analog I/O types.
